ACLE delivered all site management and construction activities as a turnkey service, including construction of access roads, and drainage culverts, HV culverts, concrete works, electrical and ESS equipment installation, termination and commissioning.

Essential Energy developed this project as a protype for assessmentof deferred network augmentation and crucially, to assess the effectiveness of distributed BESS to achieve resilience in the energy distribution network.

Northern Power Station

  • Location: Port Augusta, South Australia

  • Technology: 2P Single Axis Tracking System

  • Size: 7.2Mwp

  • Scope: Sole EPC Contractor

  • Time spent: 8 months

On the Northern Power Station project, located near the Victoria-New South Wales border, ACLE was tasked with delivering a complete Engineering, Procurement and Construction service utilising single-axis trackers.

This project was especially significant as it was one of the first solar farms in Australia to successfully utilise string inverters on a utility level and represented a significant milestone for not only the developers of the project but also more broadly for other industry stakeholders.

The project itself presented a stringent set of requirements to deliver, comparable to solar plants of large-scale capacity, requiring the direct use of over 150 staff at peak to deliver.

Having just gone through the significant bushfire crisis which affected the region and the economic and supply chain related challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, ACLE was able to complete the construction of the solar project on schedule, in just 4 months.

Blue Grass Solar Farm
